What is Mesotherapy and how does it work?

Mesotherapy has been used since the 1950’s in Europe. It was pioneered by a French physician named Dr. Michael Pistor. Basically Mesotherapy consists of small, somewhat superficial injections of vitamins, minerals, prescription medication and amino acids. The injected solution has to be individualized depending on the area to be addressed, as it is injected directly into that area. Since the quantity of injected material is so small, there is a limited amount of side effects and they can include: redness, “black and blues,” soreness, and swelling. Local anesthetic and/or nitrous oxide may be used to lessen anxiety and minimize pain.

It is known that cellulite affects the majority of females over the age of 20. Hormone changes, poor circulation to fatty areas, weakened connective tissue and lymphatic blockage all add to the cause of cellulite. The exact cause is unknown. In general cellulite looks like a dimpled or “cottage cheese-like” area of the skin. Cellulite is not necessarily found only in the obese.

Body sculpting or contouring the abdomen, arms, back, legs and hands can be addressed with Mesotherapy. Sagging skin is tightened with vitamins and amino acids while the other injected material can be used to reduce fat, and restore a more youthful and athletic appearance to the contours of the body.

Mesoglow also called Mesolift is Mesotherapy for the face and neck. Sagging, aging or wrinkled skin occurs from loss of skin elasticity, excess free radical damage from sun or alcohol ingestion. Antioxidants, amino acids and other medication can rejuvenate and tighten skin of the face and neck without the unnatural appearance and painful recovery of a surgical face lift. It will not replace a face lift but your skin quality will improve and therefore your surgical outcome will be more natural. Perhaps, the face lift can be put off for some time.
