Sclerotherapy
Veins that are cosmetically unappealing are prime candidates for therapy. There are two general treatment options: "conservative" measures, such as compression stockings, and "corrective" and "corrective" measures such as Sclerotherapy or light source laser treatment. Sometimes a combination is needed.
Sclerotherapy treats both varicose and spider veins. A tiny needle is used to inject the vein with a medication that irritates the vein lining. In response the vein collapses and is reabsorbed. Surface veins are no longer visible. Treated veins should not return, although new veins may form.
You may need more than one treatment session for any vein region. Generally normal activities can be resumed after Sclerotherapy. Support hose are worn for 48 hours for best results. Bruising typically disappears within 1-2 weeks. Although pigmentation almost always fades, it can last for several months. Scarring and other complications are very rare. Discomfort is very minimal.
